UK Summer Schools: Question: Why do I have to meet the Sutton Trust Online programme eligibility to apply for a Summer School at the University of Cambridge?

Students who take part in our Summer Schools and meet the Sutton Trust Online (STO) criteria, will be automatically enrolled in Sutton Trust Online. For applications for the University of Cambridge Summer Schools in 2026, students will have an earlier deadline because of the piloting of a new timeline to strengthen future student support.  

This pilot will provide applicants to the University of Cambridge’s Summer School with enhanced information, advice, and guidance about attending their Summer School and what it will entail, and this will be via STO. Students will be able to make a more informed decision about whether the residential is for them. This means to receive this support students need to be eligible for STO and will automatically be assessed on application and informed if they do not meet these criteria.
