We use a few different criteria to assess the eligibility of our students. Academic performance is just one measure we take into account, and the more of the criteria you fit, the more likely you are to be accepted into the programme. As a reminder, here is our academic grade criterion:
- Have achieved at least five GCSEs at grades 9 - 6 (or A* - B), including English and Maths
- Universities may also consider your overall level of GCSE (or equivalent) attainment as part of the selection process
- Individual institutions may have subject specific requirements which will be stated on the programme application form where applicable
Not meeting the general grade criterion will certainly not disqualify you from the programme, and we encourage you to apply if you meet our other criteria. However, some courses will have specific criteria or subjects studied that you will need to meet. These can be found on the specific pages for those subjects.
Our UK Summer Schools are heavily oversubscribed 7:1. If you do not meet the academic criteria of grades (or equivalent), it is unlikely your application will be successful.
If you do not meet the academic criteria but there are extenuating circumstances to explain this, please apply and give reasons for this in ‘Stage 3: Your school and study’ of your application. You can enter details in the text boxes provided. There will also be an opportunity for teachers to provide further details during the verification process, so please encourage them to fill out that section.
